Digital Education Initiative Task Force Report: Asked by Governor Gary Locke to explore the options for providing Washington's K-12 students with online learning opportunities, the Technology Alliance convened a statewide task force, conducted surveys and research, and formulated recommendations. The results of this study are presented in this report. The study led to the creation of the Digital Learning Commons, with financial support provided by the state legislature and philanthropic foundations.

Technology in Education:
Recognizing the critical link between knowledge workers and a successful technology economy, the Technology Alliance convened a Technology in Education Task Force in 1998 to study technology use in K-12 education. The results of the initial report released in 1998 and subsequent updates have led to statewide programs promoting use of technology to improve student achievement in Washington schools. A direct outgrowth of the study was the creation of the Smart Tools Academy, a program for Washington school leaders launched by the TA and the University of Washington in 1999.
