Technology Alliance Produces Bio 21 Plan to Make Washington a World Leader in Life Sciences and Information Technology Research
Since last year, the Technology Alliance has spearheaded a two-phase effort known as "Bio 21," a proposal to direct state and private resources to Washington's world-class universities and non-profit research institutions and their industry partners to make our state a leader in the emerging field of predictive and preventive medicine. The plan, which will build upon our state's existing assets in the life sciences and information technology and generate new jobs and health care innovations for the people of our state, was released at the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce's annual leadership conference in October.
Alliance of Angels Welcomes New Program Managers for 2004-05
Each September, the Alliance of Angels welcomes two new program managers who take on the day-to-day operation of the AoA for a calendar year. In this issue of TechKnowledgy, the AoA is pleased to introduce Aaron Coe, the full-time Preston Gates & Ellis fellow for 2004-2005 and Edward Hansen, the part-time Alliance of Angels Fellow for 2004-2005.
"The Next Big Little Thing" - A Look at the 2004-2005 Season of the Science & Technology Roundtable
Each month from September through June, the members of the Science and Technology Roundtable (STRT) gather to enjoy breakfast, networking and presentations by regional and national experts in science and technology. In November, Dr. Chris Diorio, Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington and Chairman & Co-founder of Impinj, provided members with a close-up look at Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), "the next big little thing."
TA Board Welcomes Four New Members
The board of the Technology Alliance welcomed four new members from diverse corporate backgrounds to its ranks at its September 23rd meeting.
